Changes to RTT in France
Following France’s 2022 budget, there have been significant changes in the rules and regulations regarding RTT (meaning ‘Reduction of working time’ in English). This is essentially compensation days for unpaid overtime, which build up monthly and lust be used before the end of the year.
With the now global cost of living crisis and increase France’s purchasing power, the government is now allowing companies to buy back RTT from their employees within the period between 1st January 2022 to 31st December 2025.
For employees, the income they receive from this will be exempt from income tax and social security contributions to URSAFF up to a maximum of €7,500 per year. This income however, will still be subject to CSG (‘Contribution Sociale Généraliséé’) as well as CRDS (‘Contribution au Remboursement de la Dette Sociale’).
