Temporary measures put in place to support self-employed workers
In France, there are more than 3 million self-employed workers. These workers have been made more vulnerable by the health crisis. In particular those who were victims of unprecedented business closures. That’s why the government has decided to implement measures to help them get back on track.
Here is a summary of what the plan includes.
Better protection of assets :
- From now on personal assets will be protected in case of default (without any prior formality) ;
- Social contributions will be reduced by 30% in order to improve the social security of the self-employed. Moreover, they will be calculated and paid in real time.
Simplified access to unemployment benefits :
- From now on, the entrepreneur will be able to claim unemployment benefits more easily. In the case of cessation of business activity, those who can prove earnings of 10 000€ for one of the first two years will be eligible to receive an allowance of 800€ per month for 6 months ;
- In addition, the potential buyer (of the business assets for example), will benefit from a reduced tax rate for the ten years following the takeover.
